19 Months

So silly in her Elsa dress

Shelby June, my precious love!  You are 19 months old.  You are so smart.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm your mommy.  You are!

  • Your top front teeth are all 4 coming in as well as your bottom molars and 1 on top.  You are tough!  They don't seem to bother you too much as far as crying and being upset.  You did, however, scratch a place on your cheek where that top molar is coming in and it may leave a scar.  You'll still be the most beautiful girl in the world to me!
  • You climb on everything.  You climb on Daddy's lawn mower, the kitchen table, the couch, the guest bed, the dogs, stools- EVERYTHING!  You can climb the monkey bars at the park too but mommy still holds on to you the whole time.
  • You looooooove to read "boooosh" (books).  You ask to read them all day long.  That's fine with me, smart girl!
  • Your favorite phrase these days is, "Uh-oh!  Wha happer?"  I love the way you say, "happened".
  • If you aren't asking to read books or watch Elsa (Frozen) then you are asking to go "side" which is "outside".  You love to point up at "sky-sky-sky!"
  • You love to boss the dogs!  You say, "hush" when they bark, whine, or howl and "mere" to get them to come to you and play or get in their kennels.
  • You also help me count our their food scoops.  You are so good at helping me!
  • You also like to help me push the clothes in the dryer and use the Swiffer dry mop.
  • Daddy taught you how to fist bump.  You love to bump anyone who will bump you.  Except Mr. Willie at Walmart.  You are terrified of Mr. Willie.  I think it's because he is loud.  We will work through it, baby girl!
  • You surprise me all the time with new words.  It's such a fun thing to see your little mind work!
  • You also know how to say your prayers and fold your hands to pray.  We talk about Jesus and how He loves you.  We also read your bible each night before bed.  You love to sing the "me" part of Jesus loves me and point to yourself.
  • You have had to go to time-out a few times for disobeying mommy.  However, you just giggle the whole time which makes mommy want to giggle.  Mommy is really baffled about how to discipline you, but I will figure it out!
Saying, "Cheeeeese"
My 2 girls
I am especially thankful for you this month.  You light up my life and bring me such joy every day.  Praise God for the opportunity to be your mommy.  I love you!

Shelby is 18 Months!

18 Months!  Ah!

Busy Bee- notice the leg bruises!

Little bitty Shelbs. I love you so much.  You are now 18 months old and it's as if the light was turned on in your little brain.  Words are spewing out of your mouth.  You are a copy cat and I love the proud face you make when we praise you.  Here are some things about you at 18 months.

  • Everyone comments on how wild you are.  However, they have no idea.  You run every where. It's your favorite mode of transportation.  I love how active you are and I don't mind at all that we are both tired at the end of the day.  I'm so thankful that you are healthy.
  • You also love to jump on your trampoline, dance, twirl, hang from things like a monkey, and you try to do front rolls.  I've already looked and I think you have to be 2 to do gymnastics.  You better believe we will be there February 1.
  • You now have 6 teeth- 4 on the bottom and 2 on top.
  • You love to scream.  We are working on this.  I will hold my finger up to my mouth and say, "shh" and you will copy me.  I usually just ignore it if it's at home and you're having a tantrum. That pretty much always makes it stop.
  • You melted my heart the other day when I picked you up from the nursery at church.  You saw me from across the room and screamed, "Mommy!" and ran to me.  That was the first time you have done that.
  • You point at EVERYTHING and say, "is-at?" for "What is that?"  I love this game!  I love to watch you learn.
  • We have watched Sesame Street almost every day for about a year now.  Last week, you pointed at the TV and said, "Is dorty!" for "It's Dorothy!" who is Elmo's pet gold fish.  I knew you were watching but I had no idea you were comprehending.  So cool.
  • You also love Daniel Tiger which comes on right after Sesame Street.  We usually only watch one or the other.
  • You also give big kisses and say, "muah!" and give high fives to everyone who wants one.
I love you so much.  You're the best little baby girl on the planet!

Shelby 17 Months

17 Months and Goofy all the time
Shelby!!!!  You're an angel.  You're hilarious and fun.  You are so smart and very observant.  You love to copy people and want to do things on your own and with no help.  It makes me proud and sad at the same time!  You still want to go to the tallest slide and bang your little legs up the whole way climbing the stairs.  Here are some fun things you're doing:

  • You love to sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and do the hand motions.
  • 2 more teeth are coming in on the bottom (one on each side of your two bottom middle teeth).  They have really been keeping us up at night.  I feel so bad for you.
  • You've started biting us- I think because your teeth hurt!
  • Now, when we ask you questions, your answer is "um" instead of yes all the time.  Too Funny.
  • You have started to sleep through the night consistently- minus the whole teeth issues.
  • You've started repeating what we say when we ask, "Can you say xxx?"  You will say it.
  • You now know the cow says "moo" or "mmmm" and the cat says "meow" or "myow".
  • You also got to eat your first cup cake.  You spotted it on the kitchen counter and you wouldn't stop crying until I gave it to you.  I believe you have your dad's sweet tooth.
First cup cake
You LOVE to swing and play at the park
Playing in Grammie and Pops Garden
Chillaxin in your chair
In the Spring River at Mammoth Springs

Destin Beach Trip

We went to Destin, FL the third week of May with my parents and my sister and brother-in-law and my twin nephews.  We had a blast!  There was lots of fishing and golf for the boys and shopping and babies for us girls.  We stayed pretty close to the outlets and I believe I went every day- sometimes twice.  I also used nap time as mommy's pool time and read a couple of books and drank Lime-a-ritas.  Those were fun afternoon "me" hours.  Here are a few pictures from the week!

She LOVED the water

On Monday night, the guys stayed home with the kiddos and the "Gilberts" got to go out to supper together just the four of us at Pompano Joe's.  We had a blast- just like vacations past!
Little vacay nap on daddy
Memommy feeding 3 babies breakfast

On Thursday, we went out on a date at Louisiana Lagniappe
Last night out to eat
We had such a wonderful time.  Too bad it was only 1 week.  Looking forward to many more trips to come!

16 Month Shelbs

16 Months!

All silly, all the time
Oh my Shelby.  Here is what you and your 4 teeth are up to at 16 months:
  • You are officially down to one nap
  • You are using real sippy cups and you love to drink water from cups and straws
  • Blueberries are your new favorite.  I was scared to give them to you because I thought you might choke but you will now grab handfuls of them and scarf them down.
  • I bought you your first pair of Keds.  They are precious and I love to watch you run around in them.  They are a size 5!
  • You can make noises for a dog "bow wow", a monkey "ew ew ew ah ah ah", and a lion "roar".
  • You love to sing Old McDonald- well the "eieio" part
  • For you, the answer to all questions is "yes"
  • If you don't want something you say, "mm- mm" for no and you will push whatever it is away.  It's so funny.
You're so much fun!!!!

Shelby 15 Months

15 Months!

15 Months!  One year and 3 months of life- one year and 1/4 of a year!  AHHH!  Here is what you were into:

  • You love to run- not walk- every where you go!  Mommy has to run to keep up with you because you are so fast!  You have the longest little legs, too.
  • You're obsessed with water.  Baths, sinks, faucets, dog bowls, water cups.  You want to play in water any time, any where.
  • You ask to watch Praise Baby all the time.  You will point at the TV and say, "Pa- Ba Pease".  I have to say yes when you throw that "please" in there.
  • You can sign, "please", "more", "all done", and "eat".
  • You also like to point at everything and say "dada" or "baba"
  • You are using sippy cups with bottle type, rubbery lids.  At our 15 month appointment, Dr. Bone told us to drop all the bottles completely and we did!  You did great.
  • You love chalk and bubbles or "bu-bu".
  • You love to say, "no, no, no, no, no".  It cracks me up.  And I really love it when you say it to the dogs.
  • You also will call the dogs!  "Be" for Bear and "Dis" for Midas.
  • You also love your puzzles.  We clap whenever you put a piece in.
Love you, toot!

Golfing with Daddy

Shelby and I went out to golf with Matt last week.  We had a blast.  It was her first time to watch daddy in action.  She loved riding around on the cart- it helped that it was a GORGEOUS day.
Checking everything out
Loves her daddy!
Not getting in the way at all...
Actually picking up his ball!  Haha!
Basically, it was an opportunity for her to run!
And she loved it
Smiling face!
She would giggle after he hit the ball
I go up to my old office about 2 days a month for a few hours and help them do whatever they need.  Shelbs loves it because she gets to watch Praise Baby for at least 2 uninterrupted hours on the big 60 inch TV.  This picture was after 3- it took me a little longer than usual to finish what I needed to do.  She would have watched it for 3 more hours.
Happy happy happy
Saturday, the Scotts had their annual Crawfish Boil!  We had a blast.  Matt wasn't able to make it because he was at a golf tournament but Shelby and I had fun on our own!  Here are some pics from the day.
First solo chocolate chip cookie- downed the whole thing
We were solo because dad was golfing- we missed him but had a blast!
LOVE. Her.
Playing ball with Weston!
Taking a break- it was hot!  Drinking up the water.
Head first down the slide.  Bringing up mommy's BP
This last picture was taken last night during some severe weather.  We had already put Shelby to bed and had to wake her up to get in the bathroom.  As you can see, our puppies were with us too.  A LITTLE CRAZY up in there!  Bear was not happy.  She hates storms.
