Doing nothing?

I'm not very good at sitting still. I am always up moving around doing something. On a typical day, I get off work and exercise for an hour, come home, play with my dogs, pick up the house, pick up dog poo, make dinner, do laundry, vacuum, etc, etc, etc. But today, I came home and did nothing. I am watching Sex and the City- I think it's safe to say this is my favorite show ever and it's definitely my guilty pleasure. I have book club tomorrow (which will follow a day at work, and a work out and playing with the dogs and house cleaning, etc.) and I haven't even read half the book yet. SO LAZY. Haha. Really, I have started a new bible study and I have been reading the Dukan Diet book plus I read 4 other books since last book club so if I don't finish Jane Eyre, I'm not going to feel bad about it.

Dukan Diet Update:
I have lost 4 lbs, but they like to come back in the afternoon. Haha. So who knows. I am going to keep it up and hopefully will be at my goal weight soon! I'm ready to add starches and carbs back into my diet! I miss you starches and carbs!

Bible Study Update:
This is a study about taming our tongue called Conversation Peace. I am really liking it so far. Let me share this week's memory verse with you!

1 Peter 3:10-11 "For whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it."

I hope you have a great week,

Lana

Royal Wedding

Did you watch? I woke up at 3 and watched from the beginning! It was so worth it! Kate was absolutely STUNNING. I drank coffee out of my fine china cups and just had the best time watching it with my puppies. I really want to go to the next one with my sister. We are a bit obsessed with all things Kate right now...
Here they are! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

I loved her sister Pippa's dress! The cowl-neck was gorgeous!

And the hats! My how fab! After her dress and Pippa's dress and oh my, Prince Harry in uniform, the hats were my favorite. It was all my favorite. Can we do it again?

My sister told me about Kate's diet- the Dukan Diet. So I bought the book and I officially begin tomorrow. It seems really doable and is the diet most proven to get rid of cellulite in the thighs and buttocks. YE HAW!

Cheers,

Lana

Recently...

Oh yeah, I forgot! I have a blog! Haha. It's been a while since I've posted. So much has happened too. Tax season is over! We have really been enjoying our time together. Here are a few snap shots from recent events.

I made Cake Pops! Oh my. This was a bit of a disaster. I didn't know that you should dip the stick on the melting chocolate before you put it in the balls of cake until I read my friend Lauren's blog! So, they melted in the heat and slid down their sticks. They were super ugly. Oh well. They tasted good! Haha.

I got some new black summer sandals. Oh how I love them so! I am so ready for it to stop raining so that I can wear them some more!

Matt got a trailer! I'm so excited for him! He has wanted one for months to haul various things that need to be hauled in a trailer. Haha. Isn't he cute?

We have done projects around the house- planted knockout roses, laid sod and mulch.

We attended the Scott's annual Crawfish Boil and had a wonderful time with some of our closest friends!

I painted our guest bathroom. It was gray, but now it is Bavarian Cream. Quite pretty.

We have had so much rain! Unbelievable. It washed out our retaining wall and poured water and sand across our driveway and into the street.

I also got to go to Hot Springs Village with some girlfriends the weekend of my birthday! We had such a great visit! They surprised me with a cake and it was so yummy!

We are really excited about the summer! I hope you're all doing well!

Love,

Lana

Meeting P-Dub

So I was browsing PW's website a few weeks ago and thought, "I wonder where she is going on her book tour?" Low and behold, she was coming to Davis-Kidd Booksellers in Memphis! And, do you know who had already planned to be in Collierville and took a day off of work? ME! I was just beside myself when I realized that I would be able to meet her.

Here is the banner announcing her signing. I should have called the bookstore before. The way it was organized, Davis-Kidd had everyone get line assignments and they did it alphabetically. We got there at 4:30 for the 6pm signing thinking we could get in the front of the line and thought it was strange that no one else was there yet. Well, they all knew the secret and had received their line assignment before hand. We got the letter "N" and knew we would be in for a long day. My family was a bunch of troopers. In fact, Lauren was my personal photographer! We waited 5 hours, but we finally got to meet her at 9:30.

Here she is when she first walked up. All of the women were FREAKING out because she said she brought Marlboro Man. She was so sweet and kind and funny and gorgeous!

Here is the group waiting for Marlboro Man to sign our books. He was so gracious and probably signed the same amount of books that she did.
OK, can you say star struck? All that was going through my head was that I've prepared and eaten all of his favorite recipes and his favorite cookies are now my favorite cookies and how I would love to come to his ranch and ride horses and heard cattle and does he love Charlie as much as Ree does and how crazy does he think I am standing here for hours waiting to meet his wife? I walked up to him and just stared and him and handed him my book and all that would come out of my mouth was, "Duh, duhr, dur, duhhh". What a moron.
Thankfully, I was able to throw on my smile and pose for a picture with him.
Tina and Phyl were a so silly and were so excited to take a picture with him. Here is Tina.

My Aunt Phyl was more excited about MM than PW. It was pretty funny.

And here was the big moment. Y'all, I know that I am being so silly about this. I was just so thrilled to meet her. I told her, "For the last year and a half everyone that has come to my house has had something prepared from your cook book." She asked, "And did it go over well?" And I said, "Everytime!" (During this time she was signing my BHTTW book.) Then she moved down to my cookbook and saw that it is falling apart from use. She said, "It's falling apart! It shouldn't do that! Email me and I will send you another one!" And then I said to her, "Or I could just come pick it up at the ranch!" And she said, "Yeah, you could just come home with us!" I'm not going to ask her for another one. My tattered and bruised cookbook is too special to me. She was so kind and she looked beautiful and her nails were painted a beautiful gray color and I just can't tell you how excited I was to be able to meet her!

Anyway, here is the photo I got with her. Thanks to Lauren my personal photographer and sweet sister who sat in that bookstore all afternoon after having worked all night Thursday and getting 3 hours of sleep.

This blog post can not begin to portray my excitement,
Lana

Girls weekend in Collierville

Ok. I had the best weekend. THE. BEST. WEEKEND. My Aunt Phyllis, Cousin Tina and I headed to Memphis for a little girls weekend. I always try to make a trip during tax season while Matt is working. This year I am taking two since Lauren is moving a bajillion miles away from me this summer. Anyhoo, here are several snap shots from it.

This is at the book signing for Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. AHHHHH. Post about that to follow.

Here we are having brunch at Lauren's house. She made us a delicious breakfast of sweet and red O'Brien potatoes, blueberry pancakes with blueberry compote and fresh whipped cream, sausage patties, panchetta and cheese eggs, and mimosas. YUUUM.
And here we are eating cup cakes at Gigi's! I got Birthday Surprise. Lauren got Red Velvet. Phyllis got Coconut. Tina got Lemon. Mom got Chocolate Banana. We all paired our cupcakes with Dunkin Donuts coffee. The PERFECT match.

And then we shopped. Here are all of our bags. It was wonderful. We shopped and ate. That's all we did. Shopped. And. Ate.
Wish the weekends were longer,
Lana

First Sewing Project

This is my new friend, Brother! My mom got him for me for Christmas and I LOVE him! I thought that for my first project I would make Lauren and Mom aprons! Start out easy, right?

Aren't they cute?! My mom is gorgeous but she didn't want to be serious and smile for the picture. I was so proud of how these turned out. Mom's has bones with dog paw pockets. Lauren's has owls with yellow and orange flower pockets. See Midas' little nub tail on the bottom? Ha!
Let me know if you want an apron,
Lana

Central Arkansas Heart Ball

Matt and I went to the Heart Ball on the 19th! Doesn't he look handsome in his tux? What a stud! Juli did my hair and make up and I thought she did a great job! She really made me feel pretty and I was so thankful because I have NO idea about hair or make-up. She's the best! Anyhoo, we had a great time and here is the picture to prove it!

Cheers,

Lana
